This draft of BSR/AHRI Standard 540-202x (SI/I-P), Performance Rating of Positive Displacement Refrigerant Compressors And Condensing Units is open for a limited scope second public review 5/8/2026 through 6/22/2026.

• What is in scope of this limited public review
  • Section 2.2: removed phrase “except in the case of vapor injection (economizer operation)”
  • Section 3.2.18 and 5.4.2.1: removed a typographical error present in the first public review
  • Section 3.28: replace phrase “a heat exchanger” with “an economizer”
  • Section 5.1: clarified the compressor published rating requirements
  • Section 5.3.5: updated first bullet to clarify that “for all methods, other than mechanical sub-cooling in the economizer, parasitic heat gain or loss in the liquid line is not included in the rating.”
  • Table 1: Updated the header in column 2
  • Section 6.1.1: Updated minimum data requirements for published rating for polynomial equations and single points.
  • Table 9: Corrected that the rating type for Methods 2, 3, and 4 is only single point.
  • Sections F.3 and F.4: Editorial changes including alignment with Equation 21.
  • Section G.2: Updated section header
  • Section G.2.2.: Inform the user of the standard that Methods 2, 3, and 4 only use the standard rating condition at single point.
